My name is BOKOH, Sejlo Paul a graduate of Lagos State University and a Pioneer graduate of the Ready Set Work project.
I started my apprenticeship with Veggie Victory Food Company on the 1st of November, 2016 and to be trained for a period of three (3) months which will end on the 31st of January, 2017.
The three months apprenticeship was based majorly on the market research. The company has a new product called Vegetarian Chunks, a Veg meat made with plant based protein. Mr. Hakeem the CEO of the company required we make a market research on the product and get contacts of people, organizations and group who are interested in the product. We have weekly meetings with the CEO at the company’s restaurant at Freedom Park, Lagos Island and we are also required to submit a weekly report which is the contacts interested persons, Organisation and distributors.
I had a lot of experience in the task given to me; I got to meet different people with different kind of view and opinion, how to relate with customers and address a public, I learnt to do online research and using social media as a tool to achieve my target. Also in my course of apprenticeship, I get to know about Google spreadsheet and how to use it for data collection. I was also opportune to have a little experience in the making of the Veg meat at the restaurant.
I want to appreciate the Lagos State government for this wonderful opportunity given to me, special thanks to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Hon. Obafela Bank-Olemoh (Daddy youth), the Ready Set Work project team, Veggie Victory and my colleagues at work. Thank you for this life time experience.
This programme has helped improved me in various ways, trained me on how to start up a business, manage it effectively and be a successful entrepreneur. I plan to start up my business immediately after my NYSC programme.
